About Us
History of Falesizwe Senior Secondary School
Falesizwe Senior Secondary School was founded in January 1973, starting with two classrooms borrowed from Meduwaneng Public School. The school received its own building in 1975 and continued expanding over the years with additional classrooms, laboratories, and specialized facilities. Due to rapid growth, it temporarily used classrooms from nearby schools until new buildings were completed. Student numbers increased from 50 to about 1,680 by 1988. Academically, the school maintained pass rates above 70% and achieved top rankings in the Orange Vaal Region during the 1980s.
Beyond academics, Falesizwe excelled in sports, music, and other extracurricular activities while growing from two teachers to a staff of 44 educators. Several principals led the school over the years, supported by dedicated administrative and support staff. Although the school suffered significant damage during the 1990 riots, the community worked to rebuild and strengthen it. Today, Falesizwe remains a symbol of resilience, academic excellence, and community pride.
Falesizwe Secondary School is committed to academic excellence and holistic learner development.
